The Community Engagement Programme is designed to raise awareness of issues around homelessness and marginalisation via the website, social networking sites, the media and talks to groups. It presents the ‘human face’ of homelessness and promotes the positive work which is done within the drop-in for the benefit of the whole community. Guests are encouraged to contribute to our PR events and media releases.
Our aim is to reduce local prejudice and fear of homeless and marginalised people and thus to reduce the amount of unprovoked aggression against these people.
We also aim to increase understanding and enlist the support and commitment of the local community which benefits from our service.
Our programme is enabling us to gain greater recognition as an information resource. We are now regularly approached to give talks to local school pupils as part of the National Curriculum on the issues surrounding homelessness.
